Fraudulent Unemployment Claims
We want you to be prepared. Every day, thousands of people fall victim to fraudulent emails, texts, and calls.
The Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) is seeing an increase of fraudulent unemployment insurance claims related to COVID-19 as part of a nationwide scheme. Under this scheme, scammers file the claims using the personally identifiable information (PII) of the victims.
If you suspect or become aware that you have been a victim of unemployment fraud, please report it and cancel the application immediately using one of the following methods:
