A Remarkable Story
This past Halloween, Zeiler Insurance decided to host a costume contest for young children in which the winner would receive a donation in their name to Advocate Children’s Hospital. The turnout exceeded expectations; we received over twenty pictures of young children in their costumes and reached hundreds of facebookers in the process, but more importantly a remarkable story was recognized. I'd like to take this time to congratulate Lauren Johnson for winning the contest. Lauren Johnson from Chicago is a 3 year old girl who is quite familiar with Advocate Children’s hospital. Lauren suffered from Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, in which parts of the left side of the her heart did not develop completely. A day after being born, Lauren was undergoing heart surgery. She underwent three open heart surgeries before reaching two years of age. Upon winning the contest, Lauren’s father Iver decided to match the donation to Advocate Children’s Hospital. Today, Lauren enjoys school and loves to swim and take tennis lessons. She goes to school at Christian Heritage Academy and wants to be a doctor. Once again Id like to congratulate and recognize Lauren and her family. This experience was a great one, and her story will be remembered.
